Keyboard layout indicator doesn’t update when switching layouts (Alt+Shift)

What Happened?

When I change the keyboard layout with Alt + Shift, the actual typing layout switches correctly, but the language indicator in the panel does not update. The indicator remains stuck on the previous layout.

Steps to Reproduce

Add at least two input sources (e.g., English (US) and Greek).
Use the shortcut Alt + Shift to switch layouts while typing in any app (Terminal, Browser, Editor, etc.).
Observe the language indicator in the top panel.

Expected Behavior

The panel’s language indicator should update immediately to reflect the newly selected layout.

I'd like to add that Super + Space still works as expected. It's just Alt + Shift (or whatever shortcut you defined in System Settings) that doesn't update the panel indicator. I just tested Both Shift keys together and it's the same.

I confirm that Super+Space works normally (the indicator changes immediately), but with Alt+Shift the layout does change while the indicator on the panel remains the same. It would be good to do something about this, because in the Keyboard Layout settings, Alt+Shift appears as the default, and this can be confusing for users.

I think you can keep this issue open, at least until one of the maintainers say otherwise.
