Description
I am facing an issue where the Electron Windows installer (setup.exe) takes more than 15 minutes to complete the installation process. The installation eventually finishes, but the duration is unexpectedly long and negatively affects the user experience.
Observed Behavior
The installer starts normally, but the installation process remains active for over 15 minutes. During this time, there is noticeable disk and/or CPU usage. Although the installation completes successfully, the long wait makes it seem like the installer is frozen.
Expected Behavior
The installation should complete within a reasonable time frame, ideally within a few minutes. The installer should feel responsive and not give the impression that it is stuck or unresponsive.
Actual Behavior
The installation process takes significantly longer than expected, which can confuse users and create a poor first impression of the application.
Questions
- Is a 15+ minute installation time normal for Electron applications?
- What are the common reasons for slow installation when using NSIS?
- Are there recommended optimizations in electron-builder or NSIS to reduce installation time?
