Disappearing changes

Hi guys, I've had two scary occasions lately where final changes to a markdown document have completely disappeared. I've got evidence that they existed in knit PDF documents I made right before my final commit, but there's absolutely no evidence of the changes in any of the commit logs, on my machine or on github. The changes were made several commits ago. This has happened to me twice now, not sure if I'm sleepwalking and scrubbing late-night edits from the repo or something?

Has anything like this happened to anyone else?

That is scary, Dan! What's especially strange is that the commits don't show up in any of the logs? Hmmm not sure what could cause that. Hasn't happened to but will keep a vigilant look out for it.

That is super scary! I've never encountered that either but will keep my
eyes out. These were simple .mds or were they .rmds?

Thanks guys! .Rmd files, very confusing stuff. I'm suspecting it might have
something to do with the github app to resolve conflicts? We were having
some issues with .DS_Store conflicts, which shouldn't affect things, but
worried that maybe the app messed up the merge in an effort to resolve.
