Sidebar — stepped progress navigation #424

Description

@QueenKraken

Description

The current sidebar is a flat list. The prototype replaces this with a stepped progress indicator that shows where a submission is in the workflow — completed steps are marked, the current step is highlighted, upcoming steps are visible but muted.
Reference

See the sidebar in the [UX refresh prototype ] — load it in a browser and use the role switcher to see how the sidebar adapts per role.

What to implement

  • Sidebar steps display the submission workflow stages in order
  • Each step has three states: completed, current (active), upcoming
  • The active step is visually distinct (highlighted)
  • Completed steps show a checkmark indicator
  • Steps are role-aware — an author sees their stages, a reviewer sees theirs

Acceptance criteria

  • Steps render in the correct order for each role
  • State (completed / current / upcoming) updates correctly as a submission progresses
  • Passes visual QA against the prototype
