Run outside of Docker?

Would it be at all possible to run this outside of Docker? I attempted this myself but got nowhere, ideally wouldn't want to deal with Docker.

It's possible, but requires more setup, especially if you are not going to use a custom Citra build.

If not using custom Citra, You will need to set custom_citra to False here: https://github.com/dylanpdx/talkmodachi/blob/main/api/citra.py#L5

You will need to patch the cxi file as described in hosting, and afterwards run that patched cxi in Citra, and finally running python main.py from the api folder

I'm not quite sure exactly how this works to be honest with you. How does having Citra running the game, and then running main.py meant to work? I assume it should result in the web UI loading when I visit localhost:5000, but instead it results in 404? I do apologise for my lack of knowledge.

One of my friends started to attempt to help me out with this, but we're still stumped. He figured out we should be using the API stuff on the URL, rather than attempting to access the web UI. This does get us a bit closer, and looking at Wireshark, Talkmodachi and Ahazar/Citra seem to be communicating, especially since if you stop the emulation midway through the browser attempting to load, then it will error out and complain about a timeout, so they do seem to be communicating, just that nothing actually seems to be happening.

I had a similar issue, so I made a simple python script that can call Talkmodatchi without needing Docker. It also includes a program to showcase it's use. I hope it helps!
