I would like to draw attention what I think is an important Drupal Core 'BUG' (I use the term tentatively).
Whether we like it or not, there is a still a very large number of users / site builders / developers out there who still use native Windows stacks.
There is absolutely no question that, for Team development, DDEV is a no brainer but...
If we are trying to get less-tech-savvy folk onboard with (indeed playing with) Drupal CMS then a what appears to all intents and purpose as a simple, single Windows application is essential.
I know this from many years introducing corporate folk to Drupal on their Windows and Mac laptops using the good old Acquia Dev Desktop back in the day.
