Porting to T99W175

Hi @dr-dolomite,

i want to partially ports this manager to T99W175.
I managed to get all basic Qualcomm stuff to work (QCMAP_ConnectionManager, dnsmasq, bridge and so on..)

I probably needs to rewrite all AT commands and function to talk with the modem (this is an sdxprairie machine), and not all stuff can be used (like speedtest, this module has single-core CPU, so not expecting too have correct response).

To make it works, do I need to compile *.ts file in some way? I'm not a web expert.

The webapp is a ReactJs style Typescript framework. The "backend" is shell scripts hosted with CGI-bin using uhttpd service that is configured with the toolkit from @iamromulan.

A lot of the functions of the QM web UI are tightly integrated so if you're not comfortable with the languages and configuration then I'd recommend requesting the capability to decouple specific features and let us know what those features are and we'll see what we can do to meet that request.

yes but if I want to deploy the html\js stuff on the webserver, do I need to compile the typescript right?

Yes. You'll use npm or pnpm or yarn for the front end

I had actually started working on an OpenWRT overlaid subsystem for sdxlemur. It's so similar I'd imagine it would also work fine with SDXPRAIRIE too.

Lae Ming actually sent me one of these T99W175 modems to experiment with a while back. Free time I had had since then was focused on mostly 551 and a bit of progress on 520 stuff.

What's the best way to access a shell? Can you enter EDL mode to flash?

Do you have other way to communicate instead of GitHub? Maybe Discord channel or something like that.

I'm the guy who has fixed the r8125 offloading on T99W175 (Ray also sent to me some HW to do the test), porting kernel and some other stuff (like enable PCIe-RC mode) on latest stock firmware.

You can put the model in AT^CUSTOMER=0 and AT+USBSWITCH=90f2 or 9025 to enable ADB.
EDL is also available using rear boot point or sending AT^EDL command.

Please note that we don't have too much space...

If you have intention to port opkg and all other stuff, we need to re-arrange mibib layout to shrink some partitions. And don't waste time on original Linksys firmware, that's a shitty fw 😅

I managed to convert lastest stock firmware from T99W175 (2024) to make it as router ;)

I don't consider your work to be Linksys/Cisco firmware since it took extra work :D

Hi @clndwhr nothing from Cisco/Linksys has been merged to the T99W175. @stich86 and I have been testing stock firmware from Telit / Foxconn (MV31-W) and I've been testing for the last week and it has been extremely stable so far, so there's no need to worry about sloppy firmware, trust me :D

I've been trying to update the parsers to obtain a JSON (as the old style simpleadmin was made) and I will share them below as a PoC

This is the performance that I got out of the T99W175 used in PCIe RC mode (I'm not close to the tower, I'm 5.6km away with only 2 over 4 antennas out, and also the uplink speed isn't very high)

Band selection works with no reboot required as the quectel, RAT selection too, only locking a cell requires a reboot. Some AT commands are pretty similar, only the parser for AT^DEBUG? will be the hardest to accomplish since it carries more data than the quectel's (for example the NR has rsrp info for every antenna)

This is what @stich86 did with a .sh script, very low on memory but not as shiny as a full ReactJs webpage:

The script also has a configuration menu where he implemented all the modifications done though AT commands on the quectel (e.g. at+qmap=lanip edits the mobileap_cfg.xml according to the user input, at+cgdcont does a similar thing too)

While some advanced users might find this to be enough, "normal" people will appreciate buttons, colors, status bars to make it nice to the eye, in Italy there's a saying "anche l'occhio vuole la sua parte", even the eye wants its part 😃

After all, the product is very valid in terms of performance, firmware maturity and availability on the market (the whole setup is affordable for 100 bucks from rework and the modem itself can be purchased by anybody for 30-40 bucks) and my opinion is that it will bring more people to the DIY table :)

Whoa lol a lot of work has already been put in I see.

I'll be making a Discord group here soon. Will drop the invite link here and on the front page of the wiki. I definitely think this modem is worth our time to take a look at especially in terms of its market price.
