This might be a GitHub Actions secrets permission thing instead of an issue with this code. I've been struggling with this when a PR from a forked repo triggers a workflow, then GitHub won't supply secrets to the workflow run. Double check the secrets permissions in your repository settings and see if there's something that can help.

If this is about PRs from forked repos, I opened issue #67 to discuss that scenario.

Gives the same error on a brand new -non forked- repo.

It was unable to pull the secret from the environment secrets, but setting the token as a repository secret worked.
