Using multiple cores to perform the search and an additional data structure (shared hash table) we can significantly speed up the number of nodes processed and therefore increase the search depth .... therefore increasing the playing strength / ELO .... therefore increasing how cool Cheap Blue is.
No due dateLichess.org has an API for controlling bot accounts. It would be really interesting to integrate with this API for a few reasons: - It would make it easier for people to play against the engine. Instead of creating a stupid account on the cheap blue web app they can just use their Lichess account and enjoy all the benefits of playing on that amazing site. - If enough people play games against it, we would get an accurate estimate of Cheap Blue's ELO, something this is not exactly known at the moment (my estimate is around 1800-2000). - In order to integrate well I would also need to figure out how the engine should manage its time during games with a time control, something which I suspect will not be easy. But after this is done it will be a fully capable bot which is cool.
