Description

The display of event information remains a nebulous area for the CAPACOA staff. In order to troubleshoot member records that do not display events but should, we need to know what conditions have to be met for events to be retrieved and displayed in the directory.

• Is the query based on the location property or on the organizer property?
• Is an event image required?

@saumier Can you please answer clarify how events are retrieved and also add your answer in the README file?

Examples

Here are three examples of presenting organizations whose event data is loaded via JSON-LD ETL and whose events are auto-minted Artsdata IDs. Yet, they each have different event displays.

National Arts Centre

Has cool-looking events.

Fredericton Playhouse

Has just a link to their events page.

Capitol Theatre

Does not even have an "Upcoming Events" section.

Problem found:

The Shortcode plugin is pulling events from an old graph of Canadian sources. This solution predates the creation of the Artsdata core graph.

Solution:

Gregory will edit the Shortcode plugin to select events based on the organizer property in the core graph.

@fjjulien I have made the graph of Canadian sources with the Artsdata core. This means that only events in Artsdata core will be displayed. This was done in the Artsdata API for events and does not change the code in the artsdata-shortcode.

@saumier Both the Fredericton Playhouse and the Capitol Theatre have events in the core graph where they are identified as organizers. Example event:

Currently, neither have events listed in the CAPACOA development site. I would like a solution where these events are displayed in member profile pages.

@fjjulien The update to Artsdata API is not live (it wasn't yet when you looked). However, there are no events images showing. I will fix this in the artsdata-shortcode and make a new release of the artsdata-shortcode.

@saumier Side question: The Playhouse does not have images in their Orion JSON-LD source, but it does have them in the ArtsCultureNB Footlight Console source. This Footlight Console source meets all conditions to load data to the core graph: it has a contentRating, it is set to auto-mint and is effectively linking Artsdata IDs to events previously minted from the Orion source (as in this example).

Shouldn't the Footlight Console's ImageObject be filling in the blank in the Artsdata core graph? What condition is missing for this ImageObject to be loaded to the core graph?

Note: The performer value in the above event example comes from the Footlight Console source.

@fjjulien The core events are not yet being updated with gap filling from other graphs.

There is nothing missing in terms of the datasets. You can check by clicking the "ranked properties" (if you have that link for core events in your top nav). The image does appear when the core event calculates its dynamic properties "on the fly".

So short answer is that data is all good, I am working on the feature!
