The projects bar shows only the first few projects in alphabetical order. If you scroll to the right and then select a project, as soon as its tasks get listed, the bar swings back to the same first few projects. This is bad UI firstly because the displayed tasks do not belong to any of the projects on display. Secondly, you would likely want to review a project as a whole while working on its tasks, so you end up having to scroll all the time. This severely limits usability. Not resetting the project bar should suffice - letting the user move the bar as and when needed.
