Shift in setting for the default value for the month part

I noticed that when setting a default value for the month part of the date picker, I have to set 0 for January and 11 for December. I would be expecting to enter 1 for January, 2 for February and so on.

And even if I did change it at this point, anyone using this widget would have to update all of their usages.

Indeed the month indexing is working according to the specification of the Javascript Date class. I understand that changing the indexing in your date picker would break the logic of existing applications, that's a valid argument.

Maybe you could simply add a hint to the description of the Month parameter, e.g. "Month used when the date format does not include a 'M' (0 = January, 11 = December)"? This would break nothing but maybe spare some debugging time for other users of you widget.
