on vs off battery profiles

was just thinking, if I actually wanted to run this on my daily driver, I may want something like when it is charging I want to help unlimited parallel people, when it is not charging I want to help n parallel number of people (maybe like 2) so it does not chew up battery life.

Right now it is either you help your configured number of people reguardless of if it is charging or not, or you help your configured number of people only when it is charging, and none otherwise

@abacef Thank you for the suggestion, and you are already the second person asking for it.

It's a bit complex of feature. Right now, it would require restarting the service (breaking connections) whenever the charging status changes, since the Snowflake library does not support changing the capacity on-the-fly. I already opened a ticket about it.

Maybe if they support it I would be more inclined to implement this feature.

It would be ideally good to keep the connection, but the whole idea of snowflake is that connections, clients, and proxies are ephemerial, for example snowflake has a browser plugin, the amount of times I shut the lid of my computer is alot, which would sever the connection, and it is expected or else they would not encourage browser plugins

Charging status change of my phone is not as much as closing the lid of my laptop, so I would say it is fine to restart the service when changing concurrent connection count

I also love the idea of this request. I would like to add that it would also be nice to have discrete limit options for when connected to wifi.

My current connection pattern is: wifi at home, data when out and about.

I am perfectly comfortable opening my network up to unlimited users when at home, as charging is easily available. When out and about & using my data, I'd like to limit the number of connections to just a few. Sometimes the app eats a considerable amount of battery life. Just today for example, Snowflake was 11% of my total usage, and dropped my battery life by about as much before I noticed. Normally Snowflake consumes only a couple percent. So, I was a bit caught off guard by that. A bit more control over the behavior would be a lovely addition!
