Ability to show results count on search/PLP (i.e. 1-50 of 500 results)

We are looking to add results count to the search results and product listing page on our headless store (i.e. 1-50 of 500 results). We have restructured the search results to be index based instead of cursor based. However, the index based approach is still causing issues. Based on graph QL documentation, the variables we would need to pass are not recognized in the BC implementation. Is this something that could be adjusted?
