Support 1-D data

I think it should be quite easy to add support for 1-D data, as long as it includes lat and lon dimensions, both with length one. At the moment the tool breaks with 1-D data when it tries to find lat/lon matchups. I hacked it to work, but maybe this facility could be included with the code. I think it would be useful.
