Question about memUpdate()

Hi, I don't know much about Javascript, but I'm trying to understand de algorithm.
The thing is that I don't completely catch the role of the variable _off_ and how the _memMouseDir_ affects the functions 2OffSet.
Could be very helpful a little explanation, is for a school project and I'm trying to translate it to C++ for a robot, anyway, thank you for this great code.
