I'd like to migrate a self-managed Argo CD installation to the new EKS capability. But, the comparison to self-managed documentation (https://docs.aws.amazon.com/eks/latest/userguide/argocd-comparison.html) states that the Notifications controller is unsupported. Currently, in my self-managed installation, I have notifications sent to slack when deployments start / succeed / fail.

Will the notifications controller be added to the capability in the future?

Would you be comfortable with an integration through EventBridge instead? Or explicitly want the Argo Notification controller

Yes, I think Eventbridge would be a suitable replacement for the notification controller.

For anyone else blocked by the missing Notifications Controller - ArgoCD Resource Hooks work as a workaround with the managed EKS capability.

We added PostSync and SyncFail hook Jobs to our Helm chart that POST to a Slack Incoming Webhook. The webhook URL is stored in AWS Secrets Manager, pulled into a Kubernetes Secret via Terraform, and referenced by the hook Jobs as an env var.

The hook template lives in the shared Helm chart so every app gets notifications automatically. Each sync fires a small curlimages/curl Job that sends a Block Kit message with the app name, version, environment, and a link to the app. Jobs are cleaned up immediately via HookSucceeded delete policy.

No Notifications Controller, no EventBridge, no extra infrastructure - just a Helm template and a Slack webhook.
