`Controlled Input` jitter

The controlled input example has issues with jitter, when the input starts from position other than 0.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open the Controlled Input example (link)
2. Click Clear
3. Select the 2nd position
4. Rapidly type three or more arbitrary digits
5. See the glitchy behaviour

Note

Reproduction of this issue is consistant, but not deterministic. It is possible to complete all reproduction steps without encountering this issue. I managed to achieve this issue in ~50% of my attempts.
