Message history table behavior

Guys, I have a question related to the behavior of the message_history table.

I am adding user/session and passing history=0, but in the database, it seems to have all messages to the user. Is it correct?

Currently I have 30M entries and 13GB of data.

Can I remove this data?
Are all these entries really necessary?

I am kind of lost around that. Hope for help!
