Release candidates for the next release of Apache NetBeans will be available weekly until release. Your help in testing, reporting and verifying issues would be highly appreciated by the whole Apache NetBeans community.

Codelerity community installers for 29-rc3 are also available for testing at https://github.com/codelerity/netbeans-packages/releases/tag/v29-rc3-build1

These bundle a Temurin 25.0.2 JDK runtime.

The macOS installers are signed and notarized, but not stapled. This should not cause an issue unless installed without an internet
connection.

The Windows installer is signed using Azure Artifact Signing. This is the first time using this for the community installers.

All installers update in place. To downgrade you can reinstall NetBeans 28 over the top.

When it's ready! 😄 There's at least one critical issue / fix, which means at least one more release candidates. Expect up to two weeks, assuming no critical issues found in upcoming rc3.

@neilcsmith-net Thanks neil, is just that at the moment, i have many "impl" under moduleDependencies and i think that you can't really make a plugin nb29 compatible before the actual 29 gets release because of the way the module system manages versions for impl dependencies.

Do you need a hand with that critical issue? This thing can dig through nebteans sources or the sources of any dependencies like nothing i have ever seen before. I can give it a day or so if you want, i am using the gemin free tier, it wouldnt cost me money, just time

No problem. I think the tag might have got marked pre-release rather than draft this time around.

The vote is currently open and looking OK. I think @ebarboni mentioned closing tomorrow, but it's up to him. Then possibly 24hrs to move assets into place, build and test community installers, etc. So should all be by the end of the week at the latest, but hopefully sooner. 🤞
