The Auto-GTAP documentation lists GEMPACK as a pre-requisite for only certain examples but I believe you may need the (free non-source) version for even the "simple" examples.
I believe this because the simple productivity increase version requires running MSplitCOM. And https://www.copsmodels.com/msplitcom.htm indicates that you can test MSplitCOM by running compallf.bat. But when I try to run it in .\examples\productivity-increase-simple\WorkFiles\GTAP-V6\MSplitCom-Exe, I get the error:
