#47 implements a phase-scrambled scalar XT model (one coefficient per
pair, random U(0, 2pi) phase at each bin). Good enough for sensing
trade studies where you care about the SNR of differential strain
between cores.
Level B: solve dE/dz = -j K E coupled-mode equations along z with a
full (n_cores, n_cores) coupling matrix. Captures:
- mode beating between cores (deterministic, bend-sensitive)
- proper power conservation
- wavelength dependence across the sweep
- bend-induced XT enhancement
Overkill for standard shape-sensing work; needed for tight MCF
bundles, strong-coupling designs, and accurate quantitative
XT-vs-bend studies.
