User Story:
As a machine building company I buy steel tubes from a supplier and integrate only a part of it in my product.
In the [SM] "HierarchicalStructures" I have an SME Entity for the tube: [SM]HierarchicalStructures.[ENT]EntryNode.[ENT]Node. I want to note down in this [ENT]Node the quantity of the tube (Node) that is built in my product (EntryNode).
Proposal:
Change: [SM]HierarchicalStructures.[ENT]EntryNode.[ENT]Node.[Prop]BulkCount to [SMC]Quantity (or a more suitable naming).
The [SM]HierarchicalStructures.[ENT]EntryNode.[ENT]Node.[SMC]Quantity hast two child elements:
- [SM]HierarchicalStructures.[ENT]EntryNode.[ENT]Node.[SMC]Quantity.[Prop]QuantityUnit: e.g. "mm", "l", "pieces"
- [SM]HierarchicalStructures.[ENT]EntryNode.[ENT]Node.[SMC]Quantity.[Prop]QuantityValue: e.g. 42, 3.1416
The proposal is based on the [SMT] IDTA 02023 Carbon Footprint with the two properties:
- [Prop]ReferenceImpactUnitForCalculation
- [Prop]QuantityOfMeasureForCalculation
The unit can also be directly part of the concept description (then the [SMC]Quantity can be a [Prop]Quantity) or, in accordance to the Meta-Model under development a dedicated unit.
Further Information
This will still hold the same information as in the current version of the [SMT] for the [Prop]BulkCount and extend it to other kinds of quantities.
Volume, for example, is used for liquids like oil. The quantity information is found today in "bill of material" models in many ERP and some PDM systems.
