What is missing?

Actually only complete submodels can be queried by /query/submodels.
Several use cases in Factory-X need to retrieve just a few submodel-elements from a large submodel.

How should it be fixed?

Add /query/submodel-elements with QueryResultSubmodelElement.

As discussed in the task force meeting from 04.12.2025: The requirement is understood and the group accepts its relevance. Before proceeding however, a dedicated driver for the next query language extensions is needed.

It would be great if you could provide a small example which use cases only require the plain SubmodelElements, as then their position in the parent Submodel would be lost.
