[Feature Request] Don't open the settings tab when the extension gets updated

When the extension gets updated by Firefox, the settings dialog is opened in a new tab. Since extensions are continuously updated in the background by Firefox, what this means is that the settings dialog opens at random for no reason when you don't need to see or alter the extension's settings. I think this should not happen.

@emv33 The settings page only opens when a new major version is released, which is when new features are added. Major versions are often months apart, so this issue isn't as big a deal as you claim it to be.

When the settings page opens (and interrupts what you were doing), there is no way for you to know which features in that settings page are new; this is a bad way of communicating what the new features are. Maybe a changelog page would be more appropriate, but that does not mean you should replace the settings page that interrupts you with a changelog page that interrupts you. You could add an option to disable this feature, or show a clickable notification using the "notifications" API instead.

You have a point, it isn't clear what is new that could be improved but not right now because of #1080 since the extension is open source if you have the knowledge you could implement the clickable notification, that sounds like a good solution

If you were to contribute make your changes on the dev branch and make a pull request to the dev branch. A new release is automatically triggered when pushes happen on main. I really need to add the contributor guide but I'm busy :(
