Unable to Install XCode

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

• run homebrew in terminal:
  brew install --cask xcodes
• login with apple ID
• Click on '26.2 (17C52)'
• Click 'Install Universal'
• Oddly the 26.2 M4 Apple Silicon in the left sidebar starts spinning "Step 1 of 7 Authenticating" along with a pop up warning "Unable to Install Xcode - If you continue to have problems please submit a bug report in the Help Menu"

Expected behavior

Xcode 26.2 universal installation (not M4 Apple Silicon)

note sure if that matters, but apple account I'm trying to use is based in US region

Using xcodes cli worked for me if that helps... it said it still needed the GUI XcodesApp version to also be installed in order to run correctly for some reason as they are two different things, but it worked.

First need to make sure you accept Apple Developer Terms and Conditions

brew install xcodesorg/made/xcodes
xcodes update
xcodes list
xcodes install 26.2
sudo xcode-select -s /Applications/Xcode-26.2.0.app

Also, if you install aria2 before actually installing Xcode, it installed in just a few minutes for me:
brew install aria2
