Describe your issue

I have two 2k 144hz monitors set up as extended displays which I run at 200% scaling in Cinnamon. Since switching to xlibre, I intermittently experience a bug after the system automatically logs me in where both my screens show duplicate output at a lower scaling setting than I typically use, and the screen is very laggy. Logging out/back in fixes the issue.

Steps to reproduce

1. Boot into Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.3
2. Allow autologin to complete
3. Intermittently experience buggy, duplicated display output

What did you expect?

I expect my displays to be in their usual configuration

I am running Mint + xlibre and have very similar hardware. I initially ran into a very similar issue, but resolved it by uninstalling xlibre and then reinstalling it via this repository https://github.com/xlibre-debian/ubuntu.
Make sure you purge the other source from your software sources before going following the steps provided by this one. I made this mistake then got confused when it broke again after an update.

I have recently switched to Mint + xlibre from Ubuntu and am very happy with the results.

I did just see an update come through yesterday, perhaps that will help. I'll report back in a week or two if I experience the issue again.

Apparently I am able to replicate the issue that @errorsuccessdev is seeing.
After installing xlibre on my system it works fine for a handful of restarts and then it breaks.

Force reinstalling xlibre and then restarting will fix the issue for several more restarts.
sudo apt-get install --reinstall xlibre xlibre-archive-keyring

When it isn't working xrandr can't detect my monitors which I think is the underlying issue. If additional information is needed I should be able to just restart my system until I run into the issue again.

I added the output of a few commands when it is working and not working. The one that changes the most is xradnr.

I ran into the problem again this afternoon, so the update didn't help. I'll run the same commands as @cshingle the next time it happens.

I ran into this twice today. Perhaps the new update has exacerbated the problem...

Here are the results of each command:
I've attached the output of xrandr when xlibre is working properly, here's xrandr when it is broken, it isn't detecting my second monitor, and isn't detecting the first one properly (all the resolutions etc. are missing)

@cshingle could you to run xserver 25.1.3 with #2126, you need to build xserver with applied patch (https://patch-diff.githubusercontent.com/raw/X11Libre/xserver/pull/2126.diff)

Or could try to run xserver master branch?

@cepelinas9000 I tried the patch on top of 25.1.3. After several restarts the issue reappeared. I have concerns that I did something wrong since the creation of the install script was heavily assisted by AI.

I also attached the output of the install script. I find it suspicious that the date of /usr/lib/xorg/Xorg didn't change.

I'd be happy to test this on my system if someone could point me in the right direction. I was able to get the dependencies installed and clone and build the master branch, but I'm not sure what to do next. Here are the commands I used, I've attached the meson and ninja output as well.

@errorsuccessdev you can copy this script into the project root and run it. It will build and install the project. I will add the same disclaimer I did above that I don't really know what I am doing. Make sure you take a run a timeshift backup before running the script so you can return your system to it's current state.

I decide to try the main branch and I got the same result. This means that
a) the issue isn't fixed on main
OR
b) my install script is not correct, and isn't replacing things correctly.
