Ubuntu 20.04 - Desktop Icons Not Sorted #5

@JeffHochberg

Description

@JeffHochberg

I'm running Ubuntu 20.04 with the default desktop manager. I added the prerequisites (sudo apt install wmctrl xdotool yad), then I downloaded iconic and installed the script under /usr/local/bin. I ran the iconic GUI simply by executing 'iconic' from the CLI and noticed a stream of errors:

This tool has been deprecated, use 'gio set' instead. See 'gio help set' for more info.

I only have a single display connected to my computer, so I selected display 1, then choose to alphabetically sort the desktop icons, followed by "Test", then "Apply" and saved the preferences in my home directory. There were no changes to the desktop icons at all.

I see a series of Gtk-WARNING errors:

(yad:11907): Gtk-WARNING **: 13:26:46.045: Failed to set text from markup due to error parsing markup: Error on line 1: Entity did not end with a semicolon; most likely you used an ampersand character without intending to start an entity — escape ampersand as &

Please let me know if this is a supported configuration, what I might be doing wrong, and/or what information you require to help debug this issue.
