Compile against pipewire headers and libs

Hej there,

maybe I am a little stupid... But: How can I compile against the headers of pipewire when building in Proton?
Are the headers and the respective pkgconfig included at all in the steamruntime or are they missing?

So far I did not get the protin build to build correctly using the $(PKG_CONFIG) vars in the Makefile.in and rules.

If you guys say: Well all headers and libs (i386 & x86-64) are included with snipeI will ask in the proton repo how to get that work, I do not want to be off-topic. Could you also tell me, in which paths they should reside (just in case...)?

The sniper SDK has Pipewire headers, libraries and pkg-config metadata preinstalled. Exactly how to use them to build Proton is out-of-scope for this project.

As documented in https://gitlab.steamos.cloud/steamrt/sniper/sdk, you can use either x86_64-linux-gnu-pkg-config or plain pkg-config to build x86_64 code, but you should use i686-linux-gnu-pkg-config to build i386 code. (For Pipewire specifically, it doesn't make any difference, but it will matter for some other libraries.)

Newer versions of Proton use steamrt4 instead of sniper. The steamrt4 SDK includes development files for x86_64 Pipewire, but not i386 Pipewire. You can install i386 Pipewire with apt install libpipewire-0.3-dev:i386 if you need it.

We've intentionally reduced the number of i386 packages in the steamrt4 SDK to try to keep its size under control, but we'd add libpipewire-0.3-dev:i386 if the Proton team asked for it.

The Proton team have their own expanded versions of the sniper and steamrt4 SDKs, registry.gitlab.steamos.cloud/proton/sniper/sdk:$PROTONSDK_VERSION and registry.gitlab.steamos.cloud/proton/steamrt4/sdk:$PROTONSDK_VERSION, which might have more development libraries preinstalled.
