HC causing random (manually started) game to Suspend after quitting said game, no way to resume through task manager. It happens with Warcraft 2 remastered (warcraft II.exe) Havent tried other games yet.

The executable is unmanaged by HC, and i have zero options on that should cause my games to suddenly suspend.

I'd like to follow up on this issue, as it still occurs and I'd like to pinpoint / debug the cause.

What happens is that the game starts, when i close the game, the game will be in this Suspended state. This only happens when HC/RTSS is applied on the executable, so it is related to either one of these processes. It is not possible to end the process through task manager, as it will throw an error 'Access denied', and any attempt to resume the process with Sysinternals process explorer also has no effect.

Strangely, the issue isn't reproducible 100% of the time, and I'd say it only happens 50/50.

After some digging for the game in question (Warcraft 2 Remastered), I could not find any such occurrence happening, leading me to believe that the game itself is not the culprit.

However, the chances are high that it is some form of interaction with this game and HC, and possibly RTSS itself.

I cannot imagine that nobody is using RTSS to limit this game's fps, as on high powered PC's you would easily reach hundreds if not thousands of FPS, nullifying any Free or G-sync benefits, and I cannot find any such cases online.

How could we start to debug this issue? As far as I know, RTSS has no technical code that can suspend processes, but HC does. The probability of HC being the culprit would be way higher. Could it be related to anything controller related? Maybe the game hooks onto the Virtual XBox controller, but fails to exit gracefully?

Let me know if there's anything that I can do on my end.

To be honest, I'm clueless at this stage. HC indeed has a few functions to suspend/resume an application but those are user-triggered.

I heard something similar with Dolphin emulator users. I'll look into it this weekend.

@Valkirie Does it look like the bug was fixed in the latest HC? In that case, I'm curious as to what the culprit was! :)

We were reading all opened windows title regularly in the wrong way, this could have caused random freezes on windows that were trying to close.
