Description
When adding a new Interactive Brokers account via the UTA configuration flow (Configure your UTAs → New UTA · Configure IBKR (TWS / IB Gateway)), the on‑screen instructions say:
Make sure TWS is running and "Enable ActiveX and Socket Clients" is on (File → Global Configuration → API → Settings).
While this is correct for TWS, the IB Gateway application does not have this setting anywhere in its interface. Users who select IB Gateway are therefore given a step they cannot follow, making the account setup confusing.
Suggestion
At minimum, the misleading instruction should not be shown when the user explicitly selects “IB Gateway”. Better still, either:
- add an explicit, tested set of steps for IB Gateway configuration, or
- remove IB Gateway as a selectable login method from the UTA wizard until the guidance is accurate.
This would prevent new users from wasting time trying to find a UI element that does not exist and losing confidence in the setup process.
