Docking on Horizontal Connectors - flips ship when head on

When approaching the connector head on the ship flips rather then turns - not sure why this is the case. the ship should rotate and not try flip maybe a setting for vertical or horizontal connectors types - if in the reverse direction all works as expected - it just not turning the ship in the horizontal
