No nav options when using Custom Header

When using the custom header custom component and setting the sidebar to always hide(via user profile settings), I end up with no navigation once I enter the Gallery panel.

IS there anyway to ensure that the hamburger menu is visible so as to ensure we can launch the sidebar inorder to navigate to other tabs and panels?

Ideally I'd also like to be able to use this component as a view/tab rather than a sidebar sub-screen.

I'd also have this problem - and I'd also like to use it as a view.

I am not sure how much work it would be to realise this or if it is even possible with a quick fix.
