Feature Request: Automatically Select 4K Resolution Tag

I'd like to officially request this feature as of late 2025. I know this has been requested-and-denied a ton over the years, but I think as of now, all the previous issues around implementation have been resolved on Apple's side.

• The 4K tag does not cause issues with Home Sharing. I just verified this on two Macs running macOS 15.6.1 by playing a 4K HDR rip of my Spider-Man: No Way Home 4k Blu-ray (nearly a 100 GB file).
• The 4K tag is now fully utilized in the macOS TV app. Newly imported files that have a 4K tag manually added in Subler are appropriately renamed by the TV app as "[Movie Title] (4K)"

I can't recall what other issues there were with enabling auto-tagging for 4K.

My current use-case for the tag is for version control of different resolutions of the same video in the TV app. Having the 4K tag added automatically saves me a ton of headache, and since my TV Library folder feeds my Plex library, it helps with version control there too.

I can test any other previous issue for verification. Thanks!

The 4K tag does not cause issues with Home Sharing

This is no entirely true. for example, the only way to use Home Sharing from a Windows machine to an Apple TV box is to use iTunes which has not been updated to support the 4K tag (Apple removed Home Sharing from the TV and Music apps on Windows for some stupid reason).

I would second this request. It is very time consuming having to set an entire 4K series manually to 4K when automatically doing so is so simple. If this is concern for some users, add a preferences option to enable/disable this feature.

Thanks for your work on this utility. I've really found it generally useful for adding shows/movies to my library.
Just the lack of auto 4K is annoying.

Still an issue for me using MacOS 26.2.
It's taken me ages to work out that the 4K tag was to blame.
