if anything goes wrong while installing it, what's the worst thing that could happen?

Answering this question is not easy. I can't give a full, complete answer. Anything, everything is possible. This text here is not a legal, professional answer. This is just an informal, spontaneous, quick "discussion". English is not my native language, so i am trying my best, but there could be some mistakes in translations.

First of all, for legal purposes, the only legal document here is the https://github.com/SebastJava/plymouth-theme-mint-logo-2/blob/main/LICENSE and this is just a standard copy of the GNU GPL v3. I did not change anything to it. It gets interesting in the sections 15 and 16: "THERE IS NO WARRANTY FOR THE PROGRAM", and no liability. Basically, i am trying my best, and would feel very bad if anything goes wrong. But anything can happen. It is reassuring to see what my work is based on. This Plymouth theme is based on the official /usr/share/plymouth/themes/mint-logo. I only changed the images and some basic parameters. I did not make any core modifications in the /usr/share/plymouth/themes/mint-logo/mint-logo.script. You can find the authors of the original engine by looking at the copyrights in mint-logo-2/mint-logo.script.

But i added many files to the /usr/share/plymouth/themes/mint-logo source. I created this INSTALLER shell script. And also the preview and revert scripts. But then again, these small scripts are just small groups of the standard commands you need to install, preview, or remove any Plymouth theme. I did not create those commands and i guess they are created by professional programmers.

IN SHORT, to answer your question about what's the worst thing that could happen:

1. Material damages are very unlikely to happen. There are some edge cases where graphics cards could get damaged from bad programming, but these are rare, strange edge cases.

2. Your Linux Mint system could get broken. This would be very surprising as i mostly basically just used commands and scripts created by experienced programmers, but i can't be absolutely sure i haven't done any mistakes. I am just going step-by-step, carefully, and doing a bit of basic reading and testing before releasing any package.

3. In case your system gets broken, i guess you could still reboot from the live USB or CD/DVD you used for installation, and from there, recover all your personal data. Besides, you should always have an up-to-date backup copy of all your personal data anyway.

4. You could also make a bad mistake in following my simple installation instructions. But this is quite unlikely as those instructions are quite simple. Maybe one day i could bundle all this into a Debian package, making installation totally "error proof". All you would have to do is a double click, thus avoiding any error.
