crash when launching on some devices

It works fine on some devices and crashes on others when launching
When it tries to play the content, everything seems to work fine, but when you select the movie or series, it acts as if it's going to connect and play, but instead it crashes.
It's possibly when Tmdb Helper sends the movie or series through its player.

Jacktook is sending the items like this:

plugin://plugin.video.jacktook/?media_type=movie&mode=select_movie_source&title=xxxxxxxxx&year=202x

And it's also being done for series like this:

plugin://plugin.video.jacktook/?media_type=TV&mode=select_series_season&title=xxxxx&year=202x

Hi @ColibriOS, thanks for the detailed report. I’ve implemented robustness improvements in search.py to defensively handle JSON parameters and IDs. The addon should now be resilient to empty or malformed parameters, preventing crashes on Android/ARMv7. These changes are already integrated into the main branch.

Hi, I've been looking into the error with the series and Prowlarr. I've noticed it only happens when I use Tmdb Helper with Jackkook as the player, so it's most likely a Tmdb Helper error. Try it if you want: open Tmdb Helper, go to the series section, and play it with Jackkook. You'll see.

The thing is, I checked the log and didn't find the error message. It's strange, really. It says that Prowlarr doesn't understand the "d" object or something like that. It's like it's sending a parameter it can't process.

But it has to be a Tmdb Helper issue, courtesy of Jurialmunkey.

When TMDB Helper sends an episode request to Jacktook using a custom player configuration, Prowlarr queries fail with the error above.
This issue occurs only for TV episodes.
Movies work correctly.
Series navigation inside Jacktook (using its internal TMDb catalog) also works correctly.
This indicates the failure occurs specifically when Jacktook receives external episode metadata from TMDB Helper.
Observed behavior
When TMDB Helper sends an episode to Jacktook:
If season/episode are passed as strings → Jacktook throws:

which appears as a Prowlarr request failure.
If season/episode are passed as integers → no error occurs, but:
Jacktook performs a season-level search
Results include all episodes of the season
Episode-level filtering is not applied
When browsing the same episode from Jacktook’s internal catalog:
No error occurs
Episode filtering works correctly
Prowlarr returns expected results
Technical analysis
The issue appears related to how Jacktook processes externally provided tv_data compared to internally generated metadata.
Key differences:
External payload (from TMDB Helper) lacks internal normalization used by Jacktook’s catalog pipeline.
When tv_data is provided, Jacktook constructs its own search query for Torznab/Newznab.
Episode-level filtering is not applied when metadata originates externally.
A formatting operation expecting integers is executed when season/episode arrive as strings, producing:

Missing type validation or coercion for season/episode
Different handling path for external vs internal metadata
Episode filter dependent on internal series identifier or normalized structure
Reproduction
Use TMDB Helper with a Jacktook player configuration similar to:
TV mode search
Metadata passed via tv_data including:
series name
season
episode
TMDb / TVDb / IMDb IDs
Then attempt to play any episode from TMDB Helper.
Expected behavior
Jacktook should accept external episode metadata without formatting errors
Season and episode values should be safely cast to integers if needed
Episode-level filtering should match behavior of Jacktook internal catalog
Prowlarr query should target the specific episode rather than full season
Suggested fix
Validate and force season and episode to integers before formatting.
Apply the same normalization pipeline used by internal TMDb catalog entries to externally supplied metadata.
Ensure episode-level filtering logic is executed when season and episode are present, regardless of metadata origin.
Handle missing or null ID fields gracefully (e.g., tvdb_id may be absent in TMDB Helper payloads).
Additional notes
This is not a Prowlarr configuration issue.
Prowlarr works correctly when Jacktook generates queries from its own catalog.
The problem is reproducible only when TMDB Helper acts as the metadata source for episodes.
