Validation rules on the Task break the "Tasks" component in the project view

There is a validation rule called "Task_start_date_less_than_end_date" that is on the inov8__PMT_Task__c object. When this validation rule fires e.g. the end date is before the start date then the component breaks and just shows a spinner.
