Technician FPS drops

Upgrading Technician's Forced Shutdown with either of the primaries makes my framerate drop to about 3 FPS until it's deactivated, and the same thing happens briefly when deploying Backup Firewall. This is with vsync turned on, so capped at 60 FPS with my refresh rate set to 60hrz if that matters.
