Following http://tridion.stackexchange.com/questions/13049/how-to-display-design-images-that-are-not-published-as-part-of-a-component the HTML design build currently discards any images (to prevent the example images, which are content, to be published), but it would be very useful to allow images that are part of the design (like sprites).
