Can you give me an overview of the codebase structure? Like what certain files are responsible for?

• src/gui is where most of the GUI is, app.rs is the main struct and it creates all the different parts of the GUI here.
• src/sim is pretty much all of the actual amp related things, so the compressors, filters etc and how they all chain together
• src/audio handles the JACK callback, and all things related to the input/output of the streams, it calls the amp sim as named above but also some other things that rely on the guitar input (think of the tuner, recording etc)
• src/ir is a bunch of maths for working with the impulse responses
• src/settings and src/presets is just logic for reading the preset and settings files.

I appreciate there's probably quite a lot to go through there. 😛

From the top of my head, with the metronome, it will mostly be creating some form of UI for it, loading a metronome sound from a wav file and then having a ticker or something to play that sound. Because it doesn't need to interact with any logic with the JACK callback, it just can play things in its own thread and it can be fairly independent (I think?). It can be owned by the UI and then updated if the user changes the text field.

A good start would be just creating something that loads a metronome "noise" and can play it at a configurable interval. Working with the UI is a bit of a pain but we could always go through that at a later stage.
