Investigate VST Plugin Functionality

If it's a VST we can use it in a DAW. Will need to figure out how exactly to do it but it seems possible.

I managed to get it compiled into both a clap plug in and VST3 and imported into Reaper using https://github.com/robbert-vdh/nih-plug/

The main issue will be the GUI, I tried spawning it in a separate thread and it really didn't like it. Alternatives are re-building the GUI using nih_plug_iced or just re-approaching it completely...

Possible routes:
1 - Don't bother with any plugin support, just route the audio output through jack as an input.
Probably the simplest way of getting the output is a DAW.
2 - Use a socket to control any plugins from the external running GUI.
This would be the best without re-implementing the GUI to run within the plugin window. It's a lot of work potentially, but may even work out quite nice to separate the repo. Example: https://github.com/kotauskas/interprocess Also would be cross platform from what I can see.

FWIW: If you re-write the GUI to work in nih-plug, you can also compile to a standalone JACK application ( and a CLAP plugin).
So you wouldn't have to maintain 2 GUIs.

@magnetophon thanks for the info, I had a little play around with https://nih-plug.robbertvanderhelm.nl/nih_plug_iced/index.html but the version of Iced there was quite a bit older (might be possible to extend what they have?). Definitely one to look into deeper though because not having VST support would definitely be a shame!
