Mode visualization does not respond when using externally generated OpenFAST linearization files #21

Hello,

I am currently using OpenFAST linearization results to analyze turbine eigenmodes, natural frequencies, and damping ratios. I recently found the ACDC tool recommended by NREL, and I noticed that ACDC supports importing externally generated OpenFAST .lin files, as well as VTK/checkpoint files, for Campbell diagram analysis and mode-shape visualization.

I am using OpenFAST v4.2.0 and ACDC [v0.6.0], running on [Windows].In my current case, I generated the OpenFAST linearization files externally and then imported them into ACDC. The frequency and damping results can be successfully identified and displayed in the ACDC Results page. However, I am not able to visualize the mode shapes. More specifically, after selecting a mode and clicking the Visualize button, nothing happens.

For this case, the following files are available in my case directory:

  • IEA-15-240-RWT-Monopile.1.lin
  • IEA-15-240-RWT-Monopile.ModeShapeVTK.chkp
  • OpenFAST output files such as .outb / .sum
  • the corresponding OpenFAST input files

In the OpenFAST main input file, I used settings similar to:

Image The frequency and damping calculations work correctly, but the mode-shape visualization does not start when I click Visualize. Image Image

Could you please let me know whether additional files or specific directory structures are required when using externally generated .lin and ModeShapeVTK.chkp files in ACDC? Also, is there any recommended way to debug why the Visualize button does not respond?

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards,
WANTao
