Fedora 40 install fails: "setup.py install is deprecated"

Up to date version of Fedora 40 KDE, installing via git directions produces this error:

$ python setup.py build
$ sudo python setup.py install
/usr/lib/python3.12/site-packages/setuptools/_distutils/cmd.py:66: SetuptoolsDeprecationWarning: setup.py install is deprecated.
