Session timeout reset

Should the session timeout not reset every time the user interacts with the website? At the minute it will fire based on the interval based into it with no reset.

I'm not sure I completely understand your question, but I will try to explain. Basically the control will setup clientside timers to try and match the session timeout on the server in an effort to warn the user prior to - and give them a way to reset their session without leaving the current page.

It will also reset the clientside timers when it detects a partial postback has occurred (because obviously the server has been posted to and therefore the server session has been reset). It will also reset the clientside timers as well as perform an async call to the server to reset session on the server whenever any $.ajax call completes (basically because we're assuming an ajax call means the client is active). The clientside timers are also obviously reset on full postbacks (again because the server was posted to and session has been reset).

Apologises my message was rather brief. I have implemented your control and have it working fine, thanks for that.

However whilst testing today I noticed that the session message was displayed every minute which makes sense as the web config session was set to 2 minutes for testing therefore as you know it fires after one minute. However my issue was that despite causing postbacks the timer didn't seem to reset.

I will spend a little extra time testing to confirm my clientside timers are not being reset and get back to you. It could be a mistake on my part.

Well, I did just recently update the control adding the ability for it to call the server (to reset session on the server) and reset the clientside timers when $.ajax calls completed. It's possible I introduced a bug if some sort. Let me know if you still think there's something going on and I'll take a look.

Ok I've found the issue, the project works grand no error on your part.

I over looked the fact that I am using an iFrame therefore postbacks inside the iFrame do not affect the session timeouts (Bad news for me). My session control is initialized on the parent of the iFrame and only resets if the postback comes for it.

Found a possible solution I was looking through the code of the control you mention you can call the reset method externally, I've tried and failed so far.

My code is basically: (Top document as its called inside iframe)
jQuery('#timeoutcontrol, top.document).reset();

It finds the control but reset is undefined.
