22.1 this 키워드

• 상태를 나타내는 프로퍼티와 동작을 나타내는 메서드를 하나의 논리적인 단위로 묶은 복합적인 자료구조 = 객체 (참고 19.1절 객체지향 프로그래밍)
• 메서드가 자신이 속한 객체의 프로퍼티를 참조하려면?

→ 자신이 속한 객체를 가리키는 식별자를 참조할 수 있어야 한다.

• 생성자 함수 내부에서는 자신이 생성할 인스턴스를 참조할 수 있어야한다. 단, 생성자 함수를 정의한 이후 new 연산자와 함께 생성자 함수를 호출하는 단계가 필요하다.

→ 생성자 함수로 인스턴스를 생성하려면 먼저 생성자 함수가 존재해야 한다.

• 생성자 함수를 정의하는 시점 = 인스턴스를 생성하기 이전 상태, 가리키는 식별자를 알 수가 없다. → 이를 위해 자바스크립트는 this라는 특수한 식별자를 제공한다.

💡 this는 자신이 속한 객체 또는 자신이 생성할 인스턴스를 가리키는 자기 참조 변수다.

• this를 통해 자신이 속한 객체 또는 자신이 생성할 인스턴스의 프로퍼티나 메서드를 참조할 수 있다.

• this는 자바스크립트 엔진에 의해 암묵적으로 생성, 코드 어디서든 참조 가능
• this가 가리키는 값은 함수 호출 방식에 의해 동적으로 결정된다.

• 일반적으로 this는 객체의 메서드 내부 또는 생성자 함수 내부에서만 의미가 있다. → strict mode가 적용된 일반 함수 내부의 this에는 undefined가 바인딩 → why?
• 일반 함수 내부에서 this를 사용할 필요가 없기 때문

22.2 함수 호출 방식과 this 바인딩

22.2.1 일반 함수 호출

• 기본적으로 this에는 전역 객체(window)가 바인딩된다.
• 중첩 함수를 일반 함수로 호출하면 함수 내부의 this에는 전역 객체가 바인딩된다.
• 일반 함수에 this는 의미가 없다

• 일반 함수로 호출된 모든 함수(중첩 함수, 콜백 함수 포함) 내부의 this에는 전역 객체가 바인딩된다.
• ⚠️ 중첩 함수 또는 콜백 함수의 this가 전역 객체를 바인딩하는 것은 문제!

→ 중첩 함수 또는 콜백 함수는 외부 함수를 돕는 헬퍼 함수의 역할

→ this가 일치하지 않는다는 것은 헬퍼 함수로 동작하기 어려움

• **that**은 주로 JavaScript에서 사용되는 용어로, 함수 내부에서 **this**가 다르게 바인딩되는 문제를 해결하기 위해 사용
• 그 외에도 Function.prototype.apply/call/bind 메서드를 제공

22.2.2 메서드 호출

• 주의할 점, 메서드 내부의 this는 메서드를 소유한 객체가 아닌 메서드를 호출한 객체에 바인딩된다는 것

• 메서드는 프로퍼티에 바인딩된 함수
• 즉, person 객체의 getName 프로퍼티가 가리키는 함수 객체는 person 객체에 포함된 것이 아니라 독립적으로 존재하는 별도의 객체이다.
• 메서드 내부의 this는 프로퍼티로 메서드를 가리키고 있는 객체와는 관계가 없고 메서드를 호출한 객체에 바인딩된다.

22.2.3 생성자 함수 호출

• 생성자 함수 내부의 this에는 생성자 함수가 (미래에) 생성할 인스턴스가 바인딩

22.2.4 Function.prototype.apply/call/bind 메서드에 의한 간접 호출

• Function.prototype.apply / Function.prototype.call 메서드는 this로 사용할 객체와 인수 리스트를 인수로 전달받아 함수를 호출

[apply] 작성법 : fn.apply(thisArg, [argsArray]) this 인자를 첫번째 인자로 받고, 두번째 인자로는 배열을 받음 [call] 작성법 : fn.call(thisArg[, arg1[, arg2[, ...]]]) this 인자를 첫번째 인자로 받고, 두번째 인자부터는 배열이 아닌 각 인자로 받음

• 두 메서드의 본질적인 기능은 함수를 호출하는 것
