Aerial Companion not working with latest OS upgrade to Tahoe 26.2

What version of macOS did you upgrade from ? macOS resets your screensaver choice, you have to activate it again.

There's an alpha version in progress with better support but it's still in progress.

hello.. i upgraded to Tahoe 26.2 .. it's not working . i'm also using the dual screen, and it's not rendering on both screens and only on one.. i'll retry it again, but there appears to be a bug with it.

Seem to have the same problem. I’ve been putzing with it for about an hour. Thought it might be my VPN, so turned that off. Got it to work once, but now only get a black screen and no video when activating the screen saver.

Also, FWIW -- when I choose Aerial in the screen save dialog, there is an Options button, but it doesn’t do anything.

Take it back -- it was opening Aerial companion behind the screen saver dialog.

I closed Aerial Companion, and it seems to be working now.

Black screen may happen periodically in Tahoe, there are some known bugs in that version of macOS. If it persists a restart of your mac is the fastest way to fix it. Options button not working is the same thing (sometimes just closing down system settings and reopening it, the whole thing, not just the screensaver panel) may fix that specific one.

@wahidfazli-oss you have to set it on each screen independently (move the window you screenshoted on your other screen and repeat the process. Also check what I said about the restart thing above.

@glouel thank you .. the restart did help and appears to be working. however it's still inconsistent. when a setting (in layers) is augmented, its buggy and gives the black screen and does not render as expected.
i think it's common and expected when a new OS is released, compatibility issues arise. so will be patient at the experts debugs and apply fixes/patches to make it more stable.. merci!

hi again... is there any plan to make updates/bug fixes for this problem? the settings keeps getting reseted and a blank screen comes up. after a re-start it works, however it's intermittent response. also the configuration screen shows the fonts in not correct view (because i have the dark mode on??)

That view is bugged yes, I've been trying to fix it, but haven't found the cause yet? I'm working on a new UI right now and removing that panel, it's not ready yet though.

I haven’t pin pointed which application or setting causes it. I’ll keep monitoring.
Also upon rebooting, when going to top menu bar to toggle ln the “wheel” for the application, it prompts for installing the application, though its already installed. Not sure if that is expected behavior. I will take a screenshot and post later.

Overall, i really appreciate the support and this is a great screensaver!!

The 'black screen' issue also occurs regularly for me on Tahoe 26.2. I love this screen saver, but it happens often enough that it's not really usable for me at the moment. Is there anything I can provide (logs, steps to try and reproduce, etc.) that would be helpful?

No, it's a bug in macOS, it's been reported and there's not much we can do. I believe I finally have a workaround though, I'll post an update when I can confirm I get it working.

looking forward to the update. i also noticed that this behavior occurs when i undock/redock (unplugg/re-plugg) to home vs. office monitors. however i do a reboot, it restores it.. wanted you (all) to know. thanks again.

Update is here, read the release notes carefully, some features are missing, but the fix is finally there for the old black screen issues : https://github.com/AerialScreensaver/AerialCompanion/releases/tag/v3.9.9a6
