Live Inbox updates on iOS device

Iterable is sending silently push notifications to update the inbox in-app messages. For Android this works well resulting in a live-update inbox but for iOS the inbox doesn't update when the app is active (probably due to how silent push notifications work on iOS). What is the recommended pattern to follow to achieve the same live-update for the inbox on iOS?

Repro (if needed):

1. open inbox inside of app
2. trigger test in-app message
3. inbox doesn't update (if the user minimizes the app and then makes it active again after that the inbox is refreshed)
