View jobs in GUI that were run via CLI?

I'm wondering if this feature exists and I just can't figure it out. I'm submitting to a cluster but for reasons not important here I have to log into the cluster and submit GPU jobs via CLI, rather than submitting through the GUI (I'm working on figuring this out). Since I have to run GPU jobs via CLI, is there a way to load the job into the GUI to view its progress? For example, when running a Denoise job, it's running fine however I can't see the live job progress from the GUI. Let me know if there's a workaround for this, thanks!

Hi Matt,

This is a great feedback. Thank you for speak out. The feature is not there yet. We still have not decided on what is a good way to interact with the cluster submitted jobs.

We can do one RELION way. First we need a button for "schedule job" and generate folder and command for that. Then submit to cluster with that command, so the GUI can know where to detect the job's output, and detect when the job is done. There is a conflict with close GUI button X, which terminate all the jobs.

Another way is somewhere in the 'settings' tab, we write a template job submission script, but without the actual command. We have a button for "submit to cluster", which automatically add command to submit script and run the job. This should be more easier for the users., but we somewhere need to specify whether they are using sbatch, qsub or something else.

What do you think. Let me know if you have idea.

Hi Yun-Tao,

I think the second option sounds nicer from a user standpoint. Maybe a base submission script for each type of cluster i.e. sbatch, qsub can be provided? Similar to some for Relion. With that the user can choose which type of cluster to submit to and use the submission script specific to that cluster. It's worked out well for me anyways, not sure how others might feel!
