Question: Any plans for the future of pycon.dk?

Hi Joan,

I can see that the pycon.dk domain has been withdrawn, probably a while ago. I was very happy with the pycon meetings and was one of the people who attended the very first one, therefore I am sad to see it in a defunct state.

I was wondering if there are any plans to continue with pycon in the future?

Hi Alexander,

thank you for the interest. Right now there are no plans to resurrect the meetings, but I would not rule it out in the future. I don't think I would arrange them by myself, but if someone else wanted to continue, I would gladly help out :)

Thanks for getting back to me! I felt like the biggest two hurdles were getting enough talks and finding space for the meetings.

As for rooms, I am currently working at ITU where there is a small group of students who meet to learn how to program Python. This might be a relevant venue for continuing the meetings. As a bonus, ITU are great at supporting student activities (or even outside meetings like this one) which mean this might also provide a regular place to meet.

The problem of getting enough talks still stands, but I hope I might attract enough attention at the university to get some more people to give talks by using facebook groups, mailing lists etc.

Let me know what you think, and whether it fits in with your vision of the future of pycon.dk :) (or Vladimir Keleshev's if he is still active)

Hi Alexander,

Yes, we liked to have some meetings in Copenhagen, so we tried to get different companies hosting the us. Mostly the attendance was better when it was somewhere in Copenhagen compared to here at Scion DTU. But maybe we could have done a better job at advertising the meetings at DTU.

It sounds like nice thing you have going at ITU :)

I'm not involved in the meetings nor have I attended any of them, but I thought it might be a viable place to resurrect the meetings if you wanted to? Especially since it might cover the need for a regular venue, at least as a starting point. I can try and find out more about the possibilities.
