Hold Shift to constrain dragging with Select Tool no longer has 45° increments

When holding Shift and moving a shape, we can move it along the X and Y axis. Is there a possibility to move it along the 45° axes as well, like in other drawing programs?

There was a similar issue that was closed but appears to have lost the 45° at some point: #402

This is intentionally set as 90°. See reasoning in this PR comment

I think constraining it to 90° increments might be better. especially when hovering close to the origin the shape changes it's snap direction quite frequently

You can trivially change it in consts.rs, although you'd have to consult with a project maintainer if you believe that the default should be altered.

Hmm, this is a UX consideration that has to be thought through. Thanks for pointing out that you have a use case for it. What comes to mind as an open possibility is that perhaps while dragging (when you're seeing the red X and green Y lines), you could use the up/down arrow keys and/or scroll wheel to increase or decrease the number of snap angles, so one tick could then introduce 45° lines and a second could introduce 15° lines and maybe a third could switch them all to 10° lines or something. I don't know if that ends up being the best approach but it's a possibility. Another option is pressing a hotkey during the drag to just toggle between 90° (default) and 45° modes. I don't think this is actionable yet until the design is decided upon, but it's good to have the feature request filed, so thanks for taking the time to report it here!

I think that the scroll wheel is a better option.
Having to do additional key presses while holding down mouse click and shift would be difficult.

Another option is that the scroll changes how many lines show up. At first it is 0, just X and Y. Move up and now there is one 45° line. Up again and now there are two at 30° and so on.
It might be more versatile than having incremental angles like 45, 30, 15, 10...

There is also the question if the value should be remembered and for how long. Is it just during that one select, session, project or permanent and what should be the default initial state?
In my opinion I would keep it as a saved option between sessions and that it starts at 45°.
